Kid friendly summer festivals 2017!

As Summer approaches let us tell you about our 5 favourite child friendly summer festivals for 2017!  Rain or shine we love providing staff at festivals to ensure the smooth running of these events.  Our staff are always chomping at the bit to get involved! There are so many interesting experiential activities to get involved in from circus skills workshops, to pirate treasure hunts and nature walks to cuddles with farm yard animals!

It is a chance for our staff to really let their creativity shine through and most importantly have fun with the children, making it ever more memorable for all involved.  Through our many events we have been involved in, we know that happy staff are the key to quality performance and a successful event.

Here is a festival for every month of spring and summer in 2017!

Cosmic Puffin, 28TH APRIL – 30TH 2017, Mersea Youth Camp, Rewsalls Lane, Mersea Island CO5 8SX.  All money raised from this festival goes to charity. It has just over 100 bands across 6 stages, with a separate kids’ area, although the whole festival is family friendly.  The kids area is getting bigger and better every year thanks to the tremendous effort put in by Gunpowder Gertie (Gee Gee) and her wonderful Hoi Polloi crew.

Magical Faerie Festival, 19TH- 21ST MAY 2017, Pleaseant Rise Farm, Alfriston, East Sussex, BN26 5TN.  Throughout this enchanting weekend, there will be drumming, belly dancing and music and some wonderful workshops. Especially for children activities include learning circus skills, faerie film screenings, storytelling and craft workshops in the children’s tent. Younger children will enjoy the faerie and pirate themed activities, such as treasure hunts, dancing and potions class.

Funk the Family, 18TH JUNE 2017, Hove Park, Sussex.  Funk the Family is an all-day festival held in Hove Park with an emphasis on really good quality music and entertainment for all the family turning Hove Park into a musical wonderland for families!

2000 Trees Festival, 6TH – 8TH JULY 2017, Upcote Farm, Withington, Cheltenham, Glos, GL54 4BL.  The 2000trees festival is a 3 day extravaganza set in the stunning Cotswold Hills. You’ll get 3 nights camping and a friendly, intimate atmosphere.  Activities for kids often include musical instrument / mask-making, as well as face painting and juggling. There are also Bonfires, Nature Walks and Sheepdog Trials.

Shambala, 24TH – 27TH AUGUST 2017, Near Market Harborough, Northamptonshire – exact location only revealed to ticket buyers!  Going for over a decade this fantastic event takes place over 3 days in August, For children, aswell as the family yurt there is a dedicated kids’ field where all the activities are free, a wandering word poetry tent, a puppetry tent, a theatre, dance workshops, a creche, hot tubs, a permaculture and healing area, fun dressed up people and fantastic music and lots of dancing through the night!

How we find the best staff for your children’s event

It is funny how the old saying goes “first impressions are lasting impressions” It really is something we believe in, and as consumer traffic at our events is fast flowing we have to make every impression count. This is why we are so intent on making the quality of our staff the highest it can be, resulting in happy clients and superb children’s events.

So how do we find the best staff for your children’s event – well, usually we can tell from the first application of a potential team member if someone is right for us here at Kids’ People. Experience is obviously all important, but we find that enthusiasm is key, as we can provide the training and support to our staff from having over 20 years in the industry, so if they applicant is ready to learn then we can teach them!

A love for children is an essential element, just like all of us here on the team at Kids People have. Children feed off the energy of our staff, they have such an unlimited and vast imagination which is fantastic to play with, and we know that our staff can make an event last in their memories for years to come.

Punctuality is also of utmost importance to us. Of course there can be delays on transport, however that means we should allow for that all the time when arriving to a job. Arriving very early is ok, arriving a bit late is not! Our event managers keep tabs on all comings and goings of staff.

Our staff also need stamina! Our events sometimes have up to 12 hour shifts, and can use repetitive phrases to get our clients message out. This means our staff have to be inventive to keep their persona fresh, welcoming, positive and full of energy. As our staff are mainly from the performance industry they are fantastic at this! And a great team vibe means we can create a fantastic atmosphere for any product from dawn until dusk…….. or dusk until dawn!
